These properties are ready for immediate occupation (following health and safety checks.) They have usually been advertised previously on the Birmingham Home Choice website.
Some of them have relaxed eligibility; this means that customers who would not normally be able to bid for it can now do so.
So if you need a 2 bedroom property, you may be able to bid for a readily available 3 bedroom property. This is an ideal way of getting a bigger home than you need.
We will also short list these properties differently. Normally a property is advertised for a cycle – Wednesday midnight until Tuesday midnight. These properties will stay indefinitely on the website until a customer bids. As soon as a customer bids we will then take it off the website and short list.
If more than one customer bids before we are able to take it off, we will short list in points order.
These properties are also advertised with no viewing date, so when we short list the local voids and lettings team we will contact you and arrange a viewing date.
The property notes will show details and state if we have relaxed eligibility.
Please note if you do bid for a readily available property and are short listed, whilst the bid is in short listed status you will not be able to bid for other properties. If you are a homeless customer and you bid on a readily available property (if you are in bid position 1) this will count as an offer and we will discharge duty.
If you are interested in one of these properties please make a note of the advert number and address, log onto BHC using your ID and PIN. Using the filters search input the advert number or address for the property and then place your bid in the normal way.
Readily available properties will be updated weekly and will remain open for bidding until a customer bids, we will then close the bidding. This is different from the other properties which are in the cycle for a week and have a bid close date.If you can't bid on a readily available property it is because someone has bid so we have closed the bidding.
